Cebu’s Pride Rave: Uniting Through Dance Tonight!

Tonight, Cebu is set to burst with energetic colors and energy! The Pride Rave Hits Cebu: Dance for Equality event is ready to dazzle the Queen City with its electrifying beats, dazzling lights, and unrestrained celebration of queer pride. Hosted at the renowned Waterfront Cebu City Hotel Ballroom, the event kicks off at 9 PM and promises a night of endless dancing for a meaningful cause. Organized by the Cebu Pride Movement along with local DJ group Rainbow Beats, this is the place to be if you want to connect, celebrate, and support the community’s pursuit of equality.

What to Expect at the Rave

Get ready for a showcase of Cebu’s most dynamic talents: DJ Luna Flux will headline the night with her unique house remixes combined with popular OPM hits, following her recent performance at the Manila Pride afterparty. Local drag star Tita Glamour will entertain with thrilling lip-sync battles. And the visuals? Picture laser displays in sync with pro-equality songs and engaging art installations from talented queer artists like Alex “Sparkle” Tan. Admission is just PHP 500, with funds going towards legal aid for trans youth facing discrimination. Last year’s event raised more than PHP 100,000, as reported by Philstar.

Accessibility is a priority: There are free shuttles from Ayala Center Cebu, gender-neutral restrooms, and quiet zones for those who need a break from the excitement. The dress code encourages boldness, sparkles, and flair, so think neon tutus and pride flags worn as capes. “This rave is more than just a party; it’s a form of protest on the dancefloor,” says organizer Kai Rivera, a trans activist who has been mobilizing Cebu’s bakla and tomboy communities for years.

Why This Matters to Cebu Right Now

In light of Cebu City’s recent achievement with an expanded anti-discrimination ordinance, tonight’s rave aims to build on this progress. Last year, more than 2,000 people joined in, transforming the streets into a energetic display of color, according to SunStar Cebu. Community leaders emphasize the importance of these gatherings in combating loneliness, particularly after the pandemic. A participant from last year exclaimed, “Dancing here made me feel acknowledged, at last!”
