How Corporate Allies Are Shaping LGBT+ Inclusion in the Philippines
In the ever-evolving area of workplace culture, the call for authentic LGBT+ inclusion in the Philippines has never been stronger. As I walked into the energetic halls of the PFIP Pride Summit 2025, I felt the pulse of our community, hundreds of advocates, business leaders, and allies gathered with one purpose: to champion belonging for every Filipino, regardless of SOGIE (sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression). This year’s summit, themed “Rising Tide: LGBTQ+ Inclusion in Extraordinary Times,” became a powerful reflection of how corporate allies are catalyzing real change. From policies to people: Inclusion takes center stage
Corporate leaders like ING, Shell, and Accenture Philippines, who convened at the Manila Economic Empowerment Forum earlier this year, emphasized that inclusion is not just a business trend, it’s a pathway to dignity, economic empowerment, and innovation. By integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) into business strategies, these organizations are breaking down long-standing barriers, from fair hiring and supplier diversity to mental health resources tailored for LGBT+ employees. During the forum, data from Open for Business underscored that the economic cost of exclusion is high, but the benefits of belonging ripple out to lift entire communities. The human stories shared reminded everyone that creating safe, authentic spaces at work is a game-changer for both employee well-being and performance. Listening, learning, and leading together
Another significant step is the launch of the 2025 Philippine LGBTQ+ Employee Research & Workplace Inclusion Survey. This nationwide study, powered by Out & Equal and PFIP, invites self-identifying LGBT+ employees to candidly share their workplace experiences. The goal? To uncover detailed insights, identify opportunities for growth, and inform future policies that work for everyone. Allies in leadership now recognize that inclusion is a journey, not a checklist. By asking questions, amplifying employee voices, and acting on feedback, they’re moving from performative gestures to concrete, sustainable change. Take part in the Workplace Inclusion Survey.
Heart to Heart: The courage of community
Inclusion means more than rainbow logos every June, it’s about embracing each person’s unique story, holding space for growth, and standing up for one another even when it’s hard. At the summit, PFIP Chair Angelo Camaya’s words resonated deeply: “A rising tide can lift all boats.” Our corporate allies are showing that lasting change happens when we navigate the waves together with empathy, courage, and real commitment.
If you’re reading this and you’ve ever felt unseen at work or in your community, know that there’s a groundswell of support rising around you. And if you’re an ally, this is your invitation: learn, listen, and use your platform to uplift every voice. The future of LGBT+ inclusion in the Philippines is bright, because we’re building it, together.
