Filipino Pride Shines at Mr Gay World 2025

Mr Gay World 2025 Ushers In Global Advocacy, Filipino Heart

The world’s spotlight shifts to Quezon City this December as the seventeenth edition of Mr Gay World promises not just glitz or glory, but bold, heartfelt advocacy, and this year, it beats with a distinctly Filipino pulse. For the first time, the storied pageant stands proudly under Filipino ownership, with newly minted CEO and President Wayne Renzo determined to morph the event into a force for inclusion and tangible change. As Renzo puts it, “That frustration fueled my decision to step in and take over, with a promise to do better. Under Filipino leadership, Mr Gay World will no longer just exist as an event, it will be rebuilt into a stronger, more purposeful platform” (Gay Nation).

A new legacy for queer celebration

This isn’t just another pageant. The choice of Quezon City is no accident; it’s a city at the heart of the LGBT+ movement in the Philippines, a place where pride marches, anti-discrimination ordinances, and unabashed community solidarity have long flourished. For many, including Renzo, Quezon’s history is deeply personal: “The Philippines takes pageantry to a whole different level. We are serious, passionate, and deeply invested in it. And Quezon City, in particular, was the natural choice.” He notes the city’s groundbreaking anti-discrimination ordinance and LGBT welfare programs as further proof that Filipino leadership means business, unapologetically so.

Pride, advocacy, and a stage for every story

Pageants have always been about more than crowns, and nowhere is this truer than for the LGBT+ community. The Philippine leg already delivered emotional moments that resonated beyond the stage. Just weeks ago, Miguel Germina of Muntinlupa was crowned Mr Gay World Philippines 2025, baring his soul on the value of courage and family love in the face of adversity: “Thank you for your courage. Thank you for continuing even if no one is not believing in you… Use your platform especially the Mr. Gay World Philippines for the young and the old member of the LGBTQ community, that everyone can achieve their dreams at their own time and at the right pace even if it’s really hard and harsh for some negative bashing that we receive online,” Germina told the crowd (Critical Beauty Philippines).

Looking to December, and beyond

When contestants from every corner of the world descend upon Quezon City this December 1, they won’t just be vying for a title. They’ll be showcasing advocacy, integrity, and the tenacity of being themselves in a world that still too often demands silence or compromise. This new era for Mr Gay World is about sharing every story, Filipino, African, European, and everything in between, with the warmth, resilience, and hope that only our community can weave.
