Queer Pinoys Shine at International Drag Olympics in Barcelona

Barcelona pulsed with glitter, sequins, and pure Pinoy pride last weekend as Filipino drag queens made a spectacular debut at the International Drag Olympics, a first for the Philippines! The International Drag Olympics, held alongside Barcelona’s sizzling summer events, drew performers and fans from around the globe, but it was our contestants from Manila, Cebu, and Davao who lit up the competition and the hearts of everyone in attendance.

Meanwhile, crowd favorite Bading Bombshell soared through the Heels Dash, gracefully navigating the track in seven-inch platforms without a single wobble (yes, you read that right, seven inches, mga bes!).

Barcelona is known as a city that celebrates self-expression. It’s only fitting that this Drag Olympics, coinciding with the city’s globally famous LGBTQ+ circuit parties, would welcome Filipino talent with open arms. With more than 70,000 visitors in the city for cultural festivals and wild parties, the Filipino queens were the stars in and out of the arena. Just ask any attendee at the city’s legendary Circuit Festival, which turns Barcelona into the queer capital of Europe each August!
