Lively Celebration of Queer Creativity at Komiket Pride 2025

Hello, friends! Komiket Pride 2025 recently brought an exciting splash of color to Pride Month, featuring the work of over 80 queer artists, creatives, and entrepreneurs. Their lively collection of comics, prints, stickers, and more emphasizes the unstoppable spirit of the Filipino LGBT+ community. Organized by Komiket since 2023, this event celebrates underrepresented queer voices through art fairs that blend creativity with entrepreneurial flair. The festivities took place over two weekends: June 6-8 at Ayala Malls The 30th in Pasig, and June 13-15 at Market! Market! in Taguig.

Art That Expresses Our Realities

Imagine a venue active with tables brimming with tote bags, t-shirts, jewelry, keychains, and original comics from talented young creators like Cinnamyon_Glaze, Kulas, TITAPADTHA, Nonadraws, and Riesolai. These artists offered live commissions, transforming blank canvases into personal narratives of queer experiences. Through their creations, queer artists shared their identities and challenged discrimination, using art as a potent tool for visibility. Notable highlights included the launch of Nashenzo’s A Couple Series Between Two Bisaya Men from Cebu and Kannah Kisaragi’s Memoire En Photos.

Enlightening Panels and Energetic Performances

Beyond the lively market atmosphere, Komiket Pride featured talks and panels that resonated with the community. Dr. Khursten Santos discussed queer romance in comics, Courage Care presented HIV 101, and Mr. Bear International Michael Olle spoke on body positivity. There were also essential personal safety tips from Transmasculine PH. Drag performances by Cleo De Nile and Andy Crocker captivated audiences, alongside readings from Gigil: A Sapphic Anthology and Boys’ Love stories. Messages of unity from Dakila and Metro Manila Pride further fostered a sense of community warmth.

The Impact of Komiket Pride

In a world where discrimination often looms, events like Komiket Pride serve as vital platforms for change, supporting queer businesses and encouraging connections through Pride expos and bazaars across the nation. They provide spaces for empowerment, economic growth, and celebration. By supporting these fairs and purchasing their comics, we ensure our stories are told and celebrated. Komiket Pride is more than just an event; it’s our shared pride in action. We hope to see you at the next celebration!
