Pride Piknik Lights Up Luneta for LGBT+ Unity
Color, laughter, and love burst across Luneta as the Pride Piknik made Sunday sparkle with unity! Mabuhay, lovies, this is Jasmine Jazzy Lee, reporting live from the heart of Manila, where hundreds gathered for an afternoon of food, music, and fearless rainbow pride. Amid swaying palm trees and the lively hum of Luneta, our LGBT+ community, and the allies who love us, claimed our space with courage, confetti, and one giant shared picnic blanket. Pride Piknik wasn’t just an event; it was an electrifying celebration reminding everyone: We’re here, we’re valid, and we’re family.
Radical joy meets community
From the first bursts of OPM on the speakers to the epic group games (yes, there was a drag queen egg-and-spoon race, iconic!), the energy was next-level. “This is what queer unity looks like!” cheered MC Rica, as families, couples, barkadas, and solo adventurers mingled, snacked, and posed for photos with towering rainbow kites. Free rainbow merch went flying off picnic tables. Kids and titas danced side by side. For every hug, every laugh, it was pure radical joy in action. And shoutout to all the amazing organizers, salamat for making sure the event was barrier-free, wheelchair friendly, and safe for everyone, including trans and nonbinary folks.
Voices, stories, and empowerment
Throughout the afternoon, a heartfelt open mic gave space for stories. Poets, student leaders, and queer couples raised their voices for love and visibility. Mar, a young nonbinary activist, shared:
“I never thought I’d feel so seen, today, I make friends and family I never knew I had.”
Pride Piknik is more than fun, it’s a statement of resilience. The event built on the momentum of larger movements, like LOV3LABAN 2025, uniting the nation for queer justice. If you spotted a photographer with a neon bucket hat, that was me, so check Bayothub’s socials for all the best snaps, fam!
Standing together, shining brighter
In a time when threats to queer safety and equality still loom, our gathering at Luneta was powerful. By choosing energetic visibility and open arms, Pride Piknik sent a message to the whole nation: when we picnic together, we rise together.
Tag us if you went, bes, let’s keep this energy alive all year! Share your faves with #PridePiknikLuneta and let’s remind the world why our Bayan is bold, beautiful, and forever rainbow fierce.
