Rainbow Coalition: Filipino LGBTQIA+ Community Unites for Pride 2025
Honey, grab your rainbow flags and sequined face masks because Pride Month has officially descended upon Manila in all its glittering glory! The metro is practically vibrating with queer energy as our Filipino LGBTQIA+ family gears up for what might be the most fabulous Pride celebration yet.
*Leans in conspiratorially* Between you and me, darlings, this year’s festivities are serving major unity realness. The theme? Love and resistance, a perfectly balanced cocktail of celebration and defiance that tastes just right on the Filipino queer palate.
A Kaleidoscope of Can’t-Miss Events
The calendar is positively bursting with Pride events that’ll have you booked and busy all month long. For the artsy queers among us (I see you, fellow creatives!), Komiket Pride 2025 kicks off this weekend (June 6-8) at Ayala Malls The 30th. This explosion of colors showcases our local queer komiks scene that’s absolutely slaying the game right now. The entrance is FREE, yes, FREE, so you have zero excuses not to support our local queer artists!
For my fitness-obsessed kweens who like to werk it while they work out, the inaugural Quezon City Pride Run is happening on June 7. Imagine 5 kilometers of sweating for equality along Tomas Morato, starting at 5 PM. The P500 registration gets you the full fantasy, medal, singlet, LED wristband, but the real prize is running alongside a community that slays together and stays together.
The Main Event: LOV3LABAN 2025
Now, brace yourselves for the crown jewel of Pride Month: LOV3LABAN 2025! The main Pride March and Festival is set for June 28, and the rumors swirling around Quezon Memorial Circle suggest it’s going to be MASSIVE. After last year’s rain-soaked drama (which didn’t stop 228,000 gorgeous souls from showing up), Pride PH is coming back fiercer than ever with what they’re calling a “MATAPANG at mas MASAYANG LABAN para sa LOVE!”
This isn’t just another party, my loves, it’s resistance wrapped in rainbow packaging. The Filipino queer community continues to push for legislation that protects our rights while creating spaces where our fabulous identities are celebrated without apology.
Artie’s Hot Take
What makes Filipino Pride particularly special is our unique blend of Western Pride traditions with distinctly Filipino queer culture. We’re not just copying, we’re creating something gloriously our own, infused with our baklang sensibilities and pinoy resilience.
So whether you’re bakla, tomboy, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, or anywhere on our beautifully complex spectrum, or an ally with love in your heart, Pride 2025 is your moment to shine. Come through, show up, and let’s make this the year our rainbow coalition shines brighter than ever before!
