Leadership Summit Empowers LGBTQ+ Voices in Philippine Workplaces
In a active show of community and courage, hundreds of advocates, business leaders, and policymakers gathered on June 4, 2025, at Shangri-La The Fort for the PFIP Pride Summit 2025, a watershed moment for LGBTQ+ leadership and workplace inclusion in the Philippines. Under the resonant theme, “Rising Tide: LGBTQ+ Inclusion in Extraordinary Times,” the annual summit, organized by the Philippine Financial & Inter-Industry Pride (PFIP), spotlighted just how crucial it is to uplift diverse voices in the evolving field of Filipino workplaces. The summit delivered a clear, unwavering message: in challenging times, embracing inclusion isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s also an urgent call to action for us all.

Riding the rising tide of inclusion
In his opening keynote, PFIP Chair Angelo Camaya drew a powerful metaphor: “Waves are inevitable and unstoppable… A rising tide can be a force of destruction, but it can also lift all boats.” This spirit echoed throughout the day, as speakers and panelists shared stories, strategies, and resources to champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) in the workplace and beyond. The summit set the stage for honest conversations about leadership and identity in the midst of political shifts and global uncertainty, a reminder that no one has to face these waves alone.
Action, advocacy, and allyship
The PFIP Pride Summit was far from a passive event. Attendees engaged with actionable tools for building impactful Pride networks and employee resource groups (ERGs), learning how to support belonging for nonbinary and gender-diverse Filipinos. The summit also served as a springboard for legislative advocacy, urging leaders and allies to push for policies that protect and empower the LGBTQ+ workforce both inside and outside the office.
Celebrating Filipino heritage and modern progress
These efforts resonate deeply with the spirit of the 2025 Philippine LGBTQ+ Gender Spectrum Forum and Leadership Symposium, which honors the country’s rich history of gender diversity while equipping today’s leaders with practical, globally relevant strategies for inclusion. By weaving together the stories of the Babaylan, revered spiritual leaders who defied binary roles, and the lived experiences of modern queer professionals, Filipino workplaces are redefining what it means to belong. Sessions explored how cultural tradition and business best practices can empower LGBTQ+ employees to claim their space and thrive.
