Philippines Prepares for Southeast Asia’s Biggest Pride Festival

The countdown has begun, my loves! In exactly one month, rainbow flags will paint the sky over Quezon City as the Philippines hosts what has become Southeast Asia’s largest Pride celebration. The much-anticipated LOV3LABAN 2025 Pride March and Festival will transform the Quezon Memorial Circle into a lively sanctuary of love, resistance, and unapologetic fabulosity on June 28.

When I attended last year’s celebration, I witnessed something extraordinary, the power of 200,000 souls united in their truth, creating a mix of stories that refused to be silenced. Despite the rain that eventually cut short the evening festivities, the energy was electric, the solidarity palpable. That spirit of resilience is precisely what makes our community unbreakable.

More Than Just a Celebration

Pride PH has been building this legacy since 2022, growing from 25,000 attendees to a staggering 200,000 last year. But don’t be fooled by the glitter and glamour, at its core, this remains a protest. As someone who has documented countless stories from our community, I’ve seen firsthand how Pride serves as both healing balm and battle cry.

“LoveLaban tayong muli para ituloy ang ating nasimulan,” Pride PH declared in their announcement, emphasizing the continuing fight for the SOGIE Equality Bill that has languished in legislative limbo for too long. The event’s name itself, LOV3LABAN, beautifully marries love with our perpetual struggle for equality.

A Day of Pride, A Night of Magic

If you’re planning to join (and honey, you absolutely should), prepare for a full day of celebration. The Love Laban Pride Festival traditionally unfolds in three magnificent acts: the Pride Expo featuring local queer businesses, the soul-stirring Pride March, and the electrifying Pride Night with performances that will leave you gagged.

While last year’s concert was unfortunately cut short due to weather conditions (with Vice Ganda, BINI, and other stars unable to perform), Pride PH quickly bounced back with a thanksgiving event. That’s just how we do, no storm can extinguish our flame.

Mark Your Calendars, Pack Your Pride

The 2025 calendar is especially significant as Manila’s celebration shares its date with Singapore’s Pink Dot Festival on June 28, creating a beautiful synchronicity of Pride across Southeast Asia.

As I prepare to document another chapter in our community’s journey, I’m reminded of the words whispered to me by a 68-year-old trans woman at last year’s march: “I never thought I’d live to see this day, thousands of us, walking freely, loving openly.” Her tears weren’t just of joy but of vindication.

This Pride, I invite you to bring not just your most fabulous outfits and brightest smiles, but also your stories, your scars, your hopes. Because Pride isn’t just about who we love, it’s about how fiercely we’ve fought to love them in the light.
