Victory Institute’s Summit Empowers Queer Leaders Worldwide

In a sunlit hall in Palo Alto on August 16, 2025, laughter mixed with the gentle hum of future ambitions as more than one hundred visionaries gathered for the Santa Clara County LGBTQ+ Public Leadership Summit. The pulse in the room was unmistakable, a blend of nerves and hope, as queer leaders from different walks of life came together, determined to claim their space in power.

The Victory Institute’s Summit was not just an event; it was a movement in action. For many attendees, the path to leadership has always felt like an uphill climb, littered with doubt and discrimination. But today, as the doors opened at 10 a.m., the energy was electric. Welcoming words from local elected officials echoed, “We belong. We decide.” Each introduction was more than a name, it was a story, a promise that queer voices can and will shape society.

Building tomorrow’s leaders, one story at a time

Workshops buzzed with strategies, laughter, and sometimes a heart-wrenching tear. “I never imagined myself in public office,” confessed Lian, a first-timer from San Jose, “but hearing other out leaders sharing their struggles and triumphs makes me believe I can, too.” The summit’s curriculum covered everything, from “Campaign 101” to networking with mentors who had already blazed their own trails.

Each conversation carried the weight of dreams and the spice of experience: how to run for office, how to build a grassroots campaign, and most importantly, how to persist against all odds. Facilitators, themselves proud members and allies of the community, shared their personal hacks and hard-earned wisdom, reminding participants that setbacks are not the end, but fuel for the next step. The day closed with a active reception, where new friends swapped numbers, selfies, and shouts of “see you at Pride!”

The Victory Institute’s work doesn’t stop at one summit.
