QueerCon 2025 Blends Pride With Purpose in Quezon City
If you were anywhere near Trinoma in Quezon City last weekend, you couldn’t miss the riot of color, creativity, and queer joy buzzing through the activity center. That’s right, QueerCon 2025 landed, and it brought more than just rainbow streamers and selfie spots. Organized by the Philippine LGBT Chamber of Commerce (PLCC) and Quezon City government, this landmark expo is all about celebrating queer brilliance, entrepreneurship, and solidarity in a city that’s fast becoming the beating heart of Philippine LGBT+ pride.
A marketplace where Pride powers progress
QueerCon wasn’t your standard glitzy bazaar, it was the biggest gathering yet of LGBTQIA+ owned brands and allies, uniting over 40 energetic businesses under one fabulous roof. Shoppers wandered between stalls for everything from cologne and clothing to handmade crafts, glittering accessories, and artwork you won’t find in any generic mall. “Kami mismo sa lipunan ay katulong n’yo sa pag-unlad,” shared Chamber chair Ronn Astillas, reminding visitors that queer folk aren’t just creating culture, they’re building the very economy we all thrive on. Beyond rainbows: Purpose that lasts post-Pride
This year’s QueerCon theme, purpose beyond Pride, hit hard, and not just because of the dynamic panels on drag economics and queer fashion. Numbers don’t lie: discrimination against LGBTQIA+ Filipinos is costing the country billions each year in lost talent and opportunity.
