Rainbow flags took center stage and love reigned supreme in Quezon City this June 27, as hundreds of LGBTQIA+ folks, allies, and advocates came together to celebrate identity, freedom, and fierce self-expression at the annual Pride Parade! Under a dazzling sky, the city bloomed into a riot of colors and community, proving that every year Pride gets bolder, louder, and even more welcoming. The Manila Times captured the energy at the city hall complex, where the 2025 parade launched with cheers, music, and so many unique looks.

Outfits, Outcries, and Outpourings of Joy

This year’s march wasn’t just about looking good, though, trust, the lewks were giving! Folks of all ages flaunted everything from sparkling drag and witty placards to elegant ternos and active barongs, proving that fashion can be activism. But the parade also served as a jubilant call for change. As students marched in graduation gowns tailored to their true gender identity, the crowd roared in support, celebrating Quezon City’s policy that allows students to express themselves at graduations, a win for inclusivity and visibility.

New Venues for Bigger Dreams

With more than 250,000 revelers expected this year, organizers shifted the major festivities from Quezon Memorial Circle to the spacious UP Diliman campus, making way for even more love, laughter, and learning. This landmark move, backed by Quezon City’s government, UP-Diliman, and Pride PH Coalition, meant safer spaces and expanded “Pride Villages” across the city, offering diverse programming and an even bigger stage for the community’s powerful voices. Philstar.com reports it’s the city’s biggest Pride crowd yet, cementing QC’s place as the Philippines’ rainbow capital.

Celebration, Protest, and the Call for Equality

Don’t get it twisted, this party has a purpose. At every turn there were chants and placards demanding the passage of the SOGIE Equality Bill, now the longest-running bill in Philippine legislative history. Each snapshot from the parade is a reminder: Pride is protest, and every step is an act of resistance. Community leaders, like Pride PH National Convener Angel Romero, urged the crowd, “Now more than ever, we need louder voices and bolder acts of resistance!” PIA highlighted that safety, respect, and support were top priorities, with mental health tents, emergency response teams, and a visible security presence.
